The cooling water intake system of the "M.D.-B." Power Station was based on the operation of four main circulating water pumps. The discharge of each pump is a minimum nominal flow rate of 36,900 m3/hour and a maximum of 48,960 m3/hour. The cooling water supply to each pipe approach by a channel from the sea. Investigation of the flow condition inside the cooling water intake, using the Froude's similarity law and modeled in a 1:10 scale. Free surface vortices, submerged vortices, flow acceleration, flow prerotation, and the impeller inlet velocity profile were examined.
